The Encounter On The White Moon Of Cevran
The Encounter on the White Moon of Cevran
The Encounter on the White Moon of Cevran marks the first confirmed direct manifestation of the Starless People witnessed by representatives of multiple major powers along the Sëriq̃in River.
It followed the near-total eradication of life on Cevran.
Background
After Cevran fell silent and its sterfs ceased communication, a coalition including the Nervak, Canmore, Gethin, Penketh, and the Kayan Ji dispatched investigative fleets.
They arrived not at Cevran itself, but at its pale orbital satellite, commonly referred to as the White Moon.
Manifestation
Witnesses reported:
- Floating black carapaces
- Shimmering, screaming forms
- Severe psychological distress
- Auditory phenomena without sound transmission
Survivors compulsively repeated a single phrase:
“You are not even real.”
Many inscribed what later became known as the Symbol of No Mouth in blood, ash, or soil.
Psychological Impact
Numerous survivors suffered permanent mental fragmentation. Memory suppression became common. Only a handful, including Maeron of the Vûlkye, retained coherent recollection.
The event shattered the assumption that the River was secure.
Network Response
Following the encounter:
- Wains ceased travel to Cevran.
- Sterfs associated with the sphere were effectively abandoned.
- The Sëriq̃in River rerouted autonomously.
No human command initiated this response.
Political Consequences
After Cevran:
- Sterf security intensified.
- Inter-sphere distrust increased.
- Suppression of detailed records became widespread.
Among the Nervak, this led to the formal Erasure of the Athyrn clan.
Strategic Implications
The Starless People did not negotiate or posture. They eliminated what they perceived as a threat to Akkadian structures. Their actions appeared:
- Indifferent
- Precise
- Rational
Cevran became the defining proof that the Starless were not myth.
