Unlike many spheres where ancient machines were obliterated following the fall of the Akkadians, Penketh retained much of its old technological infrastructure, making it a sphere of considerable strategic and economic importance. Its native name, '''Vor'Lud''', remains in use among the sphere's older clans and in formal cultural contexts. The sphere is defined by the long shadow of its [[Age of Clans]] — a period of perpetual inter-clan warfare — and by the legendary rise of [[Queen Sunjin]], the first ruler to unite the clans under a single crown.
