== The Malik == The '''Malik''' serves as the sovereign of the Nervak Empire. Unlike hereditary monarchies found on other spheres, the Malik is not chosen by a single clan lineage. Instead the Malik must represent the unity of all clans. This legitimacy is established through three traditions: * descent from multiple clan bloodlines * upbringing across several clan spheres * recognition by the councils of elders The Malik therefore functions less as an absolute ruler and more as a **living embodiment of imperial balance**. The sovereign presides over imperial law, diplomacy, and military command, but rarely governs individual spheres directly. === Responsibilities === The duties of the Malik include: * maintaining peace between the clans * controlling imperial military campaigns * safeguarding the sterf network * presiding over major religious ceremonies * acting as final arbiter in disputes between clan domains The Malik is also required to perform acts of ritual humility alongside the clan leaders, reinforcing the Nervak belief that rulership exists to serve unity rather than dominate it.
